 | News05.04.2015 // Easter SundayOn Sunday, April 5th, the Catholic world celebrates Easter Day in 2015, a week after this day Orthodox Christian will welcome the feast. The symbol of this day is considered to be coloured eggs. They are dedicated on Easter Eve along with the rest of ceremonial food. A lot of different amusements are popular involving these dedicated eggs on Easter Day: kids can compete in breaking eggs on each other so to see whose egg remains uncracked and brings the victory to its owner, they can also hunt them, present to the relatives and closest friends etc. Not less traditional than eggs Easter Bunny is considered to be a gift, symbolizing wealth and fertility. The custom of presenting a bunny made from sweets, first emerged in Germany in 16th century, afterwards it spread along the rest of European countries and was welcomed in the USA. In different countries various local traditions are accepted, so in Australia chocolate and sugar eggs are extremely popular on Easter, not less chocolate bunny and bilby (an animal resembling a fat mouse) are accepted as gifts. On this day traditionally fried mutton and beef are the meal, served for dinner. In the morning Australians at church tastes sweet hot buns (called “Hot Cross Ban”). In Germany, as well as the rest of Europe, coloured eggs and Easter Bunnies are accepted as gifts. Kids like hunting the eggs, which "were hidden" by the Easter Bunny according to the tradition. Also Germans decorate the windows and doors of their house with the Easter wreaths, made of green tree branches, flowers, ribbons and chocolates in bright wraps. They present relatives with dedicated wreaths, not food. English Monarch traditionally gives to different people so many golden coins as his age is on Holy Thursday. This custom is 500 years old, in ancient times the King presented those in need with clothes. English people have freshly baked buns (with raisins or candied fruit), decorated with the Cross for breakfast. They adorn their houses and festive tables with flowers, mainly lilies. The best presents are coloured eggs and chocolate bunnies. In Greece, a week before the holiday they start their preparations, visiting churches and organizing everything for this day. They hallow the eggs which should be coloured afterwards and the leaven for tsoureki (Easter buns of circle or cross shape) on Holy Wednesday. The sacred procession in Greece is not like processions in other countries. All participants stroll not around the temple, but along the city streets, singing and holding burning candles, heading for the main square, where they symbolically burn Judah in many thousand public sights. Ukrainians as well start preparing for this holiday a couple of days before. They clean their houses, decorate them with flowers and greenery. The night into the Easter Day, people visit the public worship, sticking to church canons and after that having their meal dedicated, go home to have a holy breakfast. On this day the hostesses prepare as many dishes as they can to welcome the day of resurrection of Jesus Christ, thus the end of the fasting and please their guests. Today is April Fools’ Day or how it’s also called All Fools’ Day. It is one of the most light-hearted days throughout the year.
The origin of this day is unclear, some refers it to the change of seasons, some to the peculiarities of date celebrating. Still the earliest notes date back to 14 century. This day everyone is officially allowed to make jokes and hoaxes on one another. Practices include sending someone on a "fool's errand," looking for things that don't exist; playing pranks; and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things. In Italy, France, Belgium, and French-speaking areas of Switzerland and Canada, 1 April tradition is often known as "April fish" (poissons d'avril in French or pesce d'aprile in Italian). It usually supposes to tape a picture of a fish on the back of their “April fool”, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when the prank is discovered. In Poland, prima aprilis ("1 April" in Latin) is a day full of jokes; various hoaxes are prepared by people, media (which sometimes cooperate to make the "information" more credible) and even public institutions. Danes, Finns, Icelanders, Norwegians and Swedes celebrate April Fools' Day (aprilsnar in Danish). They believe most news media outlets will publish exactly one false story on 1 April; for newspapers this will typically be a first-page article but not the top headline.

However some countries have already rejected this tradition and don’t change their time. Around 161 countries, including China, India and Japan, throughout the World stick only to one time, so called winter time. They have refused to "play" with time due to different reasons. The majority after holding some experiments has claimed that the reasonability of these actions is faint, as the saved electricity is used and even overused while putting the clock hands back for winter time. Moreover doctors say that this process affect people’s health harmfully, changing their biorhythms, damaging organisms, causing the increase of heart attacks and hypertension incidents, problems with sleep-wakefulness pattern, working performance degradation etc. Nevertheless approximately 76 countries together with Canada, the USA, Israel are still involved in this process and experience annually the time changing.
