News → Spielwarenmesse plugs into baby and infant market as sector hits €7.2bn in Germany alone

Spielwarenmesse will be tapping into a rapidly expanding and vastly diversifying baby and infant market for its 2020 toy fair, welcoming visitors to discover the latest innovations in the market at its Nuremberg show next year.

It’s part of a move to better plug into the growing market, and follows a recent study conducted by retail research institute IFH Köln in collaboration with retail consultancy BBE, in which it was found that the market currently has a volume of around EUR 7.2bn in Germany alone.

Spielwarenmesse is regarded among international manufacturers as a central business hub for the baby and infant segment, where 310 companies will be presenting products across Baby & Infant Articles, situated in Hall 2 and part of Hall 3 from January 29 to February 2 next year.

Meanwhile, the Special Area Baby & Infant Articles will help visitors gain their bearings amid the diversity of products on show. Located in the passageway between Halls 2 and 3, the zone mirrors many of the product group’s highlights, providing trade visitors with a valuable overview of the sector.

To facilitate initial contact between manufacturers and the toy trade, an extensive Guide contains further information on all products exhibited in the Special Area. Copies of the Guide are freely available in the Special Area, detailing as an additional service all manufacturers showing baby and infant articles at the Spielwarenmesse.

Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG, said: “The Special Area Baby and Infant Articles gives buyers and retailers new ideas for their product ranges. At the same time, the area is warmly welcomed by manufacturers as it gives them the chance to display their product highlights in a prominent second location.”

At the last edition of the world’s leading fair, 109 international exhibitors showcased a total of 177 products in the Special Area.
